The partners at SWIFT are all experienced practitioners in mental health and have worked in the NHS and private practice helping young people and their families with mental well being. Please see the "How we help page"   


Dr Katherine Hindley

Dr Hindley is a clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience in both the NHS and privately.
Key Experiences: 

  • Qualified from Exeter University with a doctoral degree in Clinical psychology and a masters degree in Family therapy.

  • First degree in Philosophy and Psychology at Sheffield University. 

  • Works with children and families with all kinds of mental health and relational difficulties including anxiety and depression, behavioural issues, self-esteem, bullying, elective mutism, ADHD, Autism and eating issues.

  • Dr Hindley is also highly skilled in working with parents, schools and other agencies giving advice, therapeutic support and consultation.

  • She is skilled in Family/systemic therapy, CBT, Narrative therapy and EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy).

  • She has previously consulted to the leaving care team in Taunton, where she was able to enable workers in helping children with very complex difficulties and Attachment Disorder.

  • Currently, Dr Hindley provides consultation support to the Family Nurse Partnership Teams in Ealing and Brent, who support teenage parents and their babies. 



Dr Claire Brown

Dr Brown is a registered counselling psychologist and integrative psychotherapist

Key Experiences: 

  • Over 9 years post-qualification experience as an integrative psychotherapist working with both adults and adolescents.  Trained at the Metanoia Institute in collaboration with Middlesex University. 

  • Over 15 years experience in the NHS, working within both adult psychological services and specialist child and adolescent mental health teams. 

  • Experience working within specialist eating disorder services both within the community and inpatient settings

  • Trained in supporting parents of children with a range of complex difficulties including anxiety and self-harm. 

  • Currently Claire works as a private practitioner 

  • Claire is an approved provider for VitalityAviva and AXA insurance.

Claire works to enable clients to gain understanding of their difficulties and the roots of their problems, to find ways to manage their emotions and find alternative ways of coping and empowering people to move forwards confidently. 


Barbara Evetts

is a mental health nurse and psychodynamic counsellor

Key experiences:

  • 24 years of NHS experience working in community outpatient, day patient and inpatient settings within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Adult Psychotherapy Services. 

  • 3 years' experience of working in private practice.

  • Trained to Masters level in Psychodynamic Counselling.

  • Post Graduate Certificate in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

  • Extensive training and experience of parenting work where children and young people are showing distress through behavioural difficulties or through self-harm. This includes experience of working with young people diagnosed with ADHD or Autism.


Barbara’s special interests include working with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, low mood, self-harm and relationship difficulties and working on the origins of difficulties, worries and trauma from the early years with young people and adults.
